Developer Tools Install Script
This repository contains a PowerShell script that automates the installation of essential developer tools for Power Pages development. Using winget
, it installs various software packages for a quick and efficient setup. It also downloads, extracts, and sets up the latest release of XrmToolBox, installs useful PowerShell modules, configures Git, and sets up VSCode extensions.
Features
- Automated Installation: Installs popular development tools including Visual Studio Code, Power BI Desktop, SQL Server Management Studio, Windows Terminal, Notepad++, PowerToys, Postman, and Visual Studio 2022 Professional.
- PowerShell Modules: Installs necessary PowerShell modules for PowerApps Administration.
- Git Installation and Configuration: Installs Git and configures it with the user’s Windows credentials.
- Azure Storage Explorer: Installs Azure Storage Explorer for managing Azure storage resources.
- XrmToolBox Setup: Downloads the latest release of XrmToolBox, extracts it to the user’s Desktop, and organizes it in a specified folder.
- VSCode Extensions: Installs useful VSCode extensions for Azure and Power Platform development.
Prerequisites
- Windows operating system
- PowerShell 5.1 or higher
- Internet connection
How to Use
Open PowerShell with administrative privileges.
Run the following command to ensure the Desktop path exists, download, and execute the script directly from GitHub:

Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the installations.
Script Details
The script performs the following actions:
Installs development tools using
winget
:- Visual Studio Code
- Power BI Desktop

Installs PowerShell modules for PowerApps:
- Microsoft.PowerApps.Administration.PowerShell
- Microsoft.PowerApps.PowerShell
Installs and configures Git:
- Installs Git
- Configures Git with the user’s Windows credentials
Installs Azure Storage Explorer
Downloads and installs the ArchiMate tool (Archi)
Downloads, extracts, and sets up XrmToolBox:
- Fetches the latest release from GitHub
- Downloads and extracts the release to the user’s Desktop
- Renames the folder to “XrmToolBox”
Installs VSCode extensions:
- Azure Pipelines
- Azure Resource Groups
- Dataverse DevTools
- Azure Account
- Power Platform VSCode extension
- PowerShell
- GitHub RemoteHub
